[ Yoite is in the kitchen early Monday morning, scrounging for whatever food there is around. While normally he wouldn't make conversation with Inaba, there's actually something on his mind since he heard of it a bit ago.]

If you don't like your name don't use it. [ So much for good mornings or hellos.]

Then why say it's embarrassing? [ He has about zero opinion on the name, even if he knows the connotation behind it, but it's not like he had a normal upbringing.]

It clashes with my personality, since I'm not cute. And besides, I'm not some princess who needs to be protected to begin with and I want people to know that.

A name is what you make of it. If you plan on using it, there's no point in saying things like that.

But people always make assumptions based on a person's name. That's just how it works.

Like Charlotte's name? Or my name?

Embrace it or don't, but complaining about it doesn't solve anything.

Different cultures treat names different... that's all. [ She sighs, running fingers through her bangs. ]

But I was planning to, maybe. Have some people start to call me by first name.

[okuri]

I'm Japanese too. [ A beat.] I didn't even have a name for 15 years.

[dereban]

.... Eh? Why not?

[okuri]

Because I wasn't really alive to need one.

[dereban]

[ Getting into the specifics isn't something he's willing to do, but he tries once more to make his point.]

There wasn't a point for me to have one before then.

I was only given a name because my guardian thought it would be too confusing otherwise.
